Very enjoyable, but with some flaws

We enjoyed the show. It was a nice evening. The female lead and the joker were very excellent. The male lead was good. The costumes were fabulous and fantastically vibrant. Wonderful costumes. But the supporting dancers were not always in sync when they should have been - there are a lot of synchronized moves involving multiple dancers in Swan Lake, and their turns and kicks were often not sufficiently in sync. My Russian friends would have been very critical of this. My biggest observation was that they went cheap, cheap, cheap on the accompanying musical soundtrack. It sounded like they were playing an old, worn out cassette tape of Swan Lake’s music through the house speakers. The music of Swan Lake is beautiful, and this cheapened the experience. I cannot imagine why they would spend so much on wonderful costumes the scrimp on a poor sounding accompanying music.

The good the bad and the ugly

We attended the Sunday &;00 pm performance. We were running a bit late so had to wait to enter which was fine. (one half hour later we were admitted) Up to this point all was good. Once admitted no one offered to assist us in finding our seats, so as not to disturb everyone we took to unoccupied seats and went to them without the benefit of any lighting from the ushering staff. Since it was dark I nearly fell moving from the step to the seating isle. There was a drop off that no one mentioned and could have been avoided if an usher had assisted us. The drop off caused me to slightly twist my ankle and jerked my back out of sorts for a couple days. After being seated the performance was wonderful. If it comes back around we will probably go again, but not if it is at the civic center. In all likelihood I will probably never attend another venue there.
